Aaanddd it happened again.. *le sigh*

As you may (or may not) know I’ve spent the middle of February traveling and I haven’t had the opportunity to blog (due to filtering and censorship I might add). I did take a lot of pictures and I’ve spent some time knitting so I do have some things to show πŸ™‚

Now let me start by saying that I realize that for some of you this tiny bit of snow is not something worth posting about. But this year we had the warmest winter of all time (I don’t know how long but we only had two or three nights where the temperature dipped slightly below 0 degrees Celcius). So we didn’t have a winter at all.. we only had a stretched out fall. This picture was taken in the northern part of Tehran, where it hasn’t snowed like this since my mother was a toddler. Of course we missed the actual snow and most of it was gone by the second week of February, but it was still an awesome sight. (It actually snowed in the desert, and the northern part of Iran had 3-4 meters of snow to deal with…)

So I spent a lot of time knitting and I finished my Fawnberry cowl while travelling between family and friends.

I like this picture so much πŸ™‚ I did notice that for me it’s a lot harder to knit when it’s not really ‘winter’. I think part of me wants to knit when it’s very cold outside and nice and cozy inside. We didn’t have any of that this year.. strange πŸ˜›

One of the best things about going to Iran (aside from the family, friends, the architecture, history, culture etc. etc.) is the food. I’ve eaten so much in those 10 days. I ate most of these while nobody was looking. I don’t have other food pictures mainly because I kept forgetting to bring my camera *sad face*

We usually stay at my mom’s friend’s house (who is more of an aunt than moms friend :)), and this picture always feels like ‘coming home’.

Usually when I go to Iran it’s a lot of fun and filled with awesomeness, but the drawback is that I need a whole vacation afterwards to relax and catch up on sleeping πŸ˜› When I came back home I felt it was time for spring cleaning and we spent a week remodeling our home. Now the bunnies are free to walk around (safely!) in most of the house instead of just in the living room.

This room has a much softer flooring so they hop around like crazy πŸ™‚

I always manage to forget how many cables and stuff I need for my computer (and other things). Re-doing the cables was a total pain, but at least now I know that the bunnies are safe πŸ™‚

Bam has made a new friend (it’s the unplugged printer underneath my desk) Apparently he approves of the new roaming space.

I’ve also been knitting. I took these pictures last week and by now this blanket is 4″ wider than it was in this picture.

I used my Dutch Wool Diva yarn (loki) for a pair of Maelstrom socks. I started knitting these in the plane towards Iran, and after knitting the cuff I realized that 2.5mm was too big. So I frogged it and restarted with 2.25mm needles and now they’re exactly my size.

Even though I still haven’t finished my February socks I still planned to get some March socks done, so I had my BF order these two hanks of awesome-sauce for me while I was away. The left one will be a pair of socks, and the right one will be a featherweight top/cardi. I’m not sure which one but It’s summery.

Here’s Noodles. Noodles is a diva when it comes to finding things to sleep on. She has two kitty beds in this room alone, but she chooses the handspun merino/silk baby blanket to sleep on.

This kitty is a huge hoarder.. she takes after her mommy.. (that would be me). If I leave knitting around you can bet that she’s going to sleep on it.

The picture is a bit blue-ish but here’s the progress on my maelstrom. I absolutely love this pattern and I’ll probably knit another pair of these when this pair is done. I must say that there’s a huuuge difference between this sock yarn and the regular sock yarns. It’s so much more comfortable to knit with and it feels amazing on my foot.

Socks are so photogenic. I love this yarn (did I mention that already?) Also: please ignore my nail polish…..

Here’s a picture of my February BF socks. I think this is a great color for my jeans loving BF πŸ™‚

So now I’m up to date again. I hope I’ll remember the restrictions next time I go to Iran.. πŸ˜› I hope to have some FO’s to show soon!

  1. Lots of lovely photos here! πŸ˜€
The cowl and the socks looks beautiful, and cats indeed have a built in knitting compass.
