So last year I decided that it was best to just ‘give up’ on this blog and to move onto the shop blog instead. I felt that I didn’t have enough time to keep up with two blogs and I really didn’t want to post as many personal things as I used to. I expected to have a more organized life and to end up with less guilt and less stress. Funny story: the opposite happened. I’ve mentioned how this blog helps me to organize my thoughts and process my daily/ weekly/ monthly life, but I never really knew how much of it was free therapy. This new year started out so incredibly hard and I no longer had the outlet I needed to focus on the good stuff. Because in the end that’s what this blog helps me do: focus on the good and release the bad. When I look back on the things I’ve blogged about it helps me refocus on all the good things. Sure there were bad things, and there were sad things and there was stress involved, but there were a lot of good things too.
Losing my blog meant that I no longer had a specific reason to focus on the good. I didn’t have to go through my photos and memories, and as such I completely drowned in the sadness and the stress that is also a part of daily life.
At a very low moment I went through my old blogposts and felt this huge ammount of sadness come over me. Like losing a friend.
I read somewhere that there was a Dutch study about happiness and holidays. The results showed that people experienced the most joy, not coming back from holiday, not while on holiday, but the time before the holiday. Anticipation is the best time and people feel happiest when they’re looking forward to their holiday. The same goes for blogging. I may not always have time to blog, but since deciding to start blogging again I’ve felt a lot happier.
Browsing my photos and memories and thinking of the way these memories make me feel. I may not post every week for the moment, but I’ll keep posting, because I need this in my life. So my dear reader, if you’re still here, welcome back. sorry for the oversharing 🙂
The photos in here are chosen at random, by the way they’re uploaded. I have no intention of organizing them. Let there be chaos 🙂
The things you missed and the things I came across while browsing my photo’s. My kiddo’s in the babboe. The photo is taken somewhere in January I think.
A picture of me somewhere between 19 and 22 years old 🙂
Me, wearing my sunset highway sweater. I really don’t like the rolling up part, so I’ll be adding a few cms of ribbing before this winter. For now it’s in hibernation though.
Me, enjoying my first cotton crocheten stole. Love it!
Melina tasting home made apple puree.
Yes. Cross stitch Link!
More cross stitching! I fell in love with this cross stitch pattern (Starry Sky by Van Gogh), and I decided to go for it. I used my 3D pen to make a standing frame for it 🙂
Funny isn’t it? I used this frame al lot!
I don’t have any other pictures of this thing, but that’s because I stopped working on it for a while. I had to practice some more because I hadn’t done any needlework in ages and I pulled too tight.
I decided to take a little break from this project until I had finished a few smaller projects. By pulling too tightly the aida underneath was becoming very visible and I was afraid of ruining the piece, since it’s a very dark project.
My parents moved out of there Amsterdam home, and I had to take a picture of the Metal Gear Solid mural I made for my brother.
There was snow! Lots of snow! (for Dutch standaards)
I remodeled the shop a bit and added the whirls on the countertop 🙂
cucumbers and dragonflies!
Meet my paternal grandmother 🙂 She passed when I was 16 years old, but I feel like Melina looks a lot like her <3

Found a picture of Ma’iq carrying Yoshi in the wrap! So cute! I wasn’t supposed to take a picture so he’s mad at me 😛
It’s super cute! I still carry him in the wrap/ manduca sometimes and I’m really sad he might not want to be carried around anymore.
I joined a sock club! yass! I soooo love this! <3
