Swants… an attempt

Swants..

I have to admit that the first time I saw Swants I wasn’t really sure that it was something I’d be able to wear. I didn’t have any sweaters I was willing to cut up/ sacrifice for the purpose so I went out to the market and bought myself 3 sweaters that looked the part.

This post is not going to cover how to make swants (or what they are). There are much better places for you to look. CLICK HERE.

What I wanted to show you is how difficult it can be to take a simple picture of knitting (when it’s on the floor).

Swants..

This is one of my first attempts. I laid the sweaters flat and.. suddenly.. CAT!

Swants..

How about this one.. she smells the sweaters (they’re very, very, very dirty), and decides that it’s a very comfortable place to sit (while keeping a close watch on the hopping bunnies).

Swants..

Like this. I tried to shoo her away but she wasn’t having it.

Swants..

When the cat finally left, it was time for Bam to check the sweaters out.

Swants..

When Bam left it was time for Zuzu to check them out.

Swants..

And just when I thought I could start taking some pictures, they both came back for another inspection…

In the end I finally managed to take a picture of the sweaters 🙂

For those of you who are interested: my angora’s are tiny (dwarf) so I have to clip them every 2 months instead of 3. The last weeks are tough because they think they’re so great at grooming so they end up felting themselves 😛

Clipping (dwarf) Angora bunnies

This is what they looked like before the clipping. If you compare the size of Zuzu’s ears in this picture and the picture above you’ll see how long the fiber actually is. I can’t shave/ clip them very short because they’re so tiny and they might lose their body heat too quickly.

Although I have to be honest and say I really like them better with a bit of fuzz on them. They’re very active (maybe because they’re so young), but once they’re clipped they go insane.. They run around like crazy and they’re all naughty 😛

As you can see I’m still learning to clip them neatly. I accidentally left her a cowl and a moustache.. sorry Zuzu!

Next time I’ll show you some pictures of my awesome new Swants! I’m rather sick and the thought of striking a pose (one of the last steps of making Swants) is a little too much..
