I swore I wouldn’t…..

but I did… I don’t know how it happend people..

… wait for it…..

ahh phew.. there you have it.. I’m curretly knitting my first pair of socks ever, even though I promised myself I wouldn’t.. well.. it was a bad promise anyway.. let me tell you how this happened ๐Ÿ™‚ When I was young my mom used to knit and I tried to knit a little and ended up with endless meters in stockinette… ๐Ÿ˜› So even tho my mom used to knit I’ve never seen her knit a sock, and I always imagined this was because socks have a hardcore function and why spend so much time knitting something you won’t be able to wear much?

don’t shoot me yet… that’s how I used to think ๐Ÿ˜› lol I’ve been fascinated with handknitted socks for quite a while and even 3> a lot of them on rav, but first I sucked at knitting.. then I sucked at DPN’s, then I wanted to finish old projects and then yadda yadda yadda…. so when all of these things were irrelevant only one ‘but’ remained… I HATE knitting the second part with a passion…. I have the same thing with sleeves.. I really really hate knitting the second part…. my sleeves are always a bit different…. and so were my mittens :'( maybe it’s just something I need more practice with but I don’t care.. I hate doing it.. :p

first socks ever :|

I found out you can knit them both at the same time… instructions can be found HERE. I’m loving it! Because it was the first time I’d be knitting socks I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t get confused with the two strands of working yarn, so I made sure there would be a color difference between sock A and B, I really don’t mind this difference because it helped me pick the right yarn for a few times now ๐Ÿ˜€

so… besides this little adventure I’ve got some progress on the handspun hew to show you ๐Ÿ™‚

hew wip

this is a mod I found on rav made by her and thought it was very pretty, later on when I started my hew I wanted to have something lacey like that and went searching for a pattern I liked.. later on I found out it was exactly the same pattern………

Anyways, it will be blocked once it’s done and I’ve already swatched the white yarn and it blockes out quite nice and it should be the same size as the handspun so I hope Muphy stays away and it works out the way I hope it will ๐Ÿ˜›

So far I really like the contrast between the two yarns, the white Wibra Nova cotton is quite shiny in contrast to the handspun, but it also makes the yellows pop. Without the white the lighter parts of handspun just appeared dirty but now the color actually shows ๐Ÿ™‚

I also feared the combination would look weird but the more I knit the more I like how it’s turning out. It might look a bit weird on this picture but I think that’s merely because it’s not finished yet ๐Ÿ™‚
