first post of December!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I have a lot to talk about and a lot to knit. At the moment I’m taking a little break from it all and enjoying where a am in life. I’m trying to be more conscious of my days and to actually live everyday instead of alternating between rushing and sleeping through life.

I’ve been living a student style life my whole life now that I think of it, and it’s time to see which way I’d like to go from here. It probably sounds very dramatic, but really it’s not. I’m just thinking of living a more active and happy life 🙂

We moved to this house in june, but we didn’t have time to take our time and unpack, so we just dumped everything in the closets and moved on with our lives. At this point I spend more time searching for random objects than it takes me to get the actual chore done, and it’s driving me insane. I’ve been cleaning out some stuff and I’ve been filling garbage bags with stuff we really need to throw away. It’s also in the midst of the cleaning frenzy that I’m suffering my worst episode of startitis ever.

It’ done, but its not washed yet, so no FO post for me yet. The pattern is corbin, and it’s intended for my the BF. I’m going to knit one for myself as well and I’m thinking of some girlier colors in drops alpaca. I’m also knitting the Scott Pilgrim hat (the official pattern) for the BF and I’m loving it! Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture so I’ll show you next time (think FO post).

The past few weeks have been cloudy and characteristic for Dutch weather. Gray, windy and rainy. All day. Every day. I don’t know about you, dear reader, but I love it. I love it when it’s dark out and rainy and the sky is turning dark blue. I imagine I’m sitting inside, looking out the window. The droplets of rain on the glass.. the yellow glow of the lights.. sipping some (insert favorite hot drink here), and KNITTING THE NIGHT AWAY W000H00000!!!

I LOVE it. especially on fridays. Friday nights are my crappy horror movie nights. I’m sitting on the couch, two cats on my lap fighting for the best place of said lap. A crappy horror movie so I can be a little scared, but focus on the knitting as well. Sometimes I spin in this fashion. As a matter of fact, I even blog in between (like right now). The cats left tho..

Anyway, back to the knitting. The dark weather is great for my spirtis, but it’s a total drag for photo ops. I take all my pictures on a table next to my living room window, so I always use natural light. I like it because it’s the best way (imho) to show the colors and the stitch definition, if you’re not the happy owner of nice lighting equipment (like me).

the only problem is that you have a limited amount of time to take the pictures because after about 15.00 you’ll get more and more gray pictures and after 16.00 you can forget about daylight. So this is actually the reason I forgot about the hat I’m currently working on.

This is still the first pair, but the second one is always quicker. I had to take a little break from knitting this because one of my 2.5mm dnps got broken and I was a little too bummed to continue. I had already broken my reserve dpn so it was either continue with one less or order new dpns.

I got the 15cm ones. Much better for sock and glove knitting anyway. I always feared I’d poke myself in the eye with the 20cm ones, so I’m actually rally happy. Knitting the fingers is much more pleasant than I remember, but in all fairness it’s been a while since I knit these.

I’ve also been doing some shopping today. When I saw them last week I fell in love, but I didn’t like them in pale blue.

Now these are much more my colour. I bought 5 balls and I’m still thinking about the things I’d like to do to them (purrr).

They’ve got sweater/ cardigan written all over them but I’m too dizzy from all the ravelry searches I’ve done today. I’ve seen so many lovely patterns and projects I’m tempted to go back and buy the lot….

Thankfully it’s crappy horror friday and I’m bound by crappy horror friday law to sit tight and creep myself out while knitting… otherwise…. anything could’ve happened….
