Tour de Fleece :)
Jul 3rd
I’ll be honest, I’m really not a fan of the Tour at all… I don’t like watching it and I really think its quite boring.. I do however respect the athletes and I think it’s an awesome achievement but still it’s just not for me.. however.. this does not mean I don’t like to use this as an excuse to spin
The plan was that I’d be done with the washing and carding so I could start spinning immediately when the Tour started, but unfortunately, because of the extreme heat, I haven’t been able to finish. It was simply too hot to touch any fibre so I haven’t knit or spun at all for a while. This meant that I had to finish plying the BFL before I can do any other spinning, so that’s what I did.
I finished the plying and I’m quite pleased with the way it turned out. It’s become a bit thicker than I planned it, but on hindsight I’m very pleased with that fact. It’s rather difficult to only knit very thin materials, sometimes it’s pleasant to have some heavier yarns to play with
This is what it looks like right now, it’s about the same size as malabrigo sock yarn (sometimes thicker sometimes thinner) and so far it measures 406 meters. At first it was a lot of fun to spin this but at the end it was a real pain. I will definately not start the other half before I have a faster bobbin because trying to spin light fingering 3-ply yarn with a 1:5,5 ratio really really sucks if you ask me…. Not only does my foot not like the fast treadling, but I’ve managed to unscrew the wheels main bolt….. I also noticed my hands start working faster and faster and my foot keeps the same pace so when at a certain point the singles break I can’t manage to continue because there’s not enough spin, causing the yarn to keep breaking and breaking every time I try to restart…. very very frustrating.
Another rather funny point is that it took a long time for me to spin the singles and then to ply them, so the end of the plying process was rather annoying because the singles were allmost ‘stuck’ to the bobbin. They were a bit curly and I had trouble getting them off in one piece. Also the plying went too slow because of my recent trauma concering underspun singles.. so while trying to correct this I overspun the yarn a bit causing this pretty mess. At the moment it’s hanging out to dry, hopefully tomorrow the curly mess will have subdued
Besides the Tour and the WC there’s been a birthday to celebrate
My dad has become a year older and for us kids it’s the time to bake a cake. Why you ask? Well for as long as I can remember my birthdays have been marked by my dads ridiculously cool birthday cakes. My second birthday I had a barbie cake, with a real barbie doll on top wearing a pricess candy dress, for my third birthday it was a grass field with a house and 3 bear candles and the years after that I always had some fun cake. Later on my brother got the awesome cakes (kirby, mario..). So now (since last year) we bake him cakes and try to decorate them creatively. We just started out so we still suck but I think this one is another little success
My dads birthday was the same day we won with 2-1 from Brazil, and we didn’t want to show his age on the cake so we made the soccer field and the teams
Like I said, we really suck (and Brazil didn’t play in yellow, and we didn’t have blue!), but I think my dad liked it anyway
Here’s my dad stabbing cake…:)
summer activities
Jun 27th
This is my third post this month.. what happened?
I’m usually such an active blogger but I must say I’ve had to wait for this summer for a long time and I’m enjoying every bit of sun I can get. Thankfully someone sent a major heat-wave our way and our cold and windy little country has become a tropical paradise
But there’s more to tell than just how great the weather has been. There’s some major stuff going on
First of all I’ve washed all my fleece and it’s dried and ready for some heavy carding action. Unfortunately as it’s still very hot I’m in no mood to start working on warm alpaca fleece right now, so the pretty clean fleeces are just going to have to wait.
The other thing on my mind right now, like most other people in the world, is the World Cup. I love soccer
I was raised with a soccer fanatic father who used to play himself, so soccer was a big thing when I grew up. It still makes me happy to think that every four years the whole world is united for a few weeks because of their love for soccer (well… winning the world cup hehe).
Anyway, there’s not much time knitting while watching soccer, and no knitting means no blogging
I’ve also already talked about my spinning wheel and my 5,5:1 ratio… this, unfortunately for me, means that I can’t spin while watching the game either.. so I just sit there and watch the game as my hands do nothing but relax
(I do get the feeling my hands are enjoying the well-deserved rest too!).
Obviously it doesn’t mean I don’t knit anmymore at all! I’ve been working on some things, but the progress is very slow. Beside all of the above reasons for me not to knit there’s one other… I’ve already mentioned it here, but I guess I can say something more about it
I just handled my first workshop and I’m really excited to do some more
This blog is all about me stepping out of my comfort zone and trying to organize my life, and right now I’m doing exacty that.
On my internships I found out I value my personal time much more than I used to think I did. I thought I wouldn’t mind working full days, and I still don’t think I’d mind, but I will have to enjoy every moment of it. I don’t want to end up waking up feeling like working is a waste of my day, and starting to wish my days away so it can be weekend. I don’t want to waste my time and I don’t want to wish my life away like that. So now that I’m still a student and don’t have anything to lose this will be my first priority. I need to think about these things now before I end up being stuck in routine….
Sorry people the rant ends here….
From this point on it’s about showing you the progress of the past few weeks
Guess what.. I got a birthday present from my parents
I noticed I tend not to knit in the summer (because it’s hot) and sewing skirts and dresses seems like the way to go. But tho I tried my best, the edgings never came out really professional.. and now I know why
Lockmachines are the shit!
So obviously I bought the latest burda style and tried to make this pretty dress… So far it turned out to be a little more tricky than I anticipated, but I think I can handle it
Since I just got the machine and don’t fully understand it yet I tried it on some fabric I had lying around. My grandmother gave me this blue fabric with the large pink flowers on it. I really like it tho it’s a bit much
Before this ridiculous heat-wave it was rather rainy and cold, so I felt like knitting again.. unfortunately for me I did the cast-on a bit too tight so I need to restart this one, but I really like the pattern. It’s the lace capelet in malarbigo lace oceanos.
When I reached half of the 300 grams I got really bored and decided to n-ply the spun singles on the bobbin. So far I’m not even halfway I think but I’m happy with the way the colors are blending. I’m still not sure what it’ll become but I’m sure it’ll be fine
The singles weren’t all that even at some points but the plying evened it out so I’m pretty happy with the way this is working out. I must say that my ratio is really really annoying when it comes to plying. Spinning the singles is becoming a pain but the plying just downright sucks…. The end of the singles on the bobbin (where I started out plying) didn’t have enough twist at certain points because my hands would start to work faster than my feet.. even tho my feet were treadling pretty darn fast they still couldn’t keep it up. So I ended with a nice cramp in my foot and undertwisted singles……..
Tomorrow I’ll see if I can do something about it

rant
In general I’m an easy going person. I’m in for a lot of things and try not to make things more difficult than they need to be. But there’s things about me that are not so cool and which tend to give me quite some stress…. I’m not good at letting things go. Not in a petty ‘just-wait-I’ll-get-you-when-you-least-expect-it’ kind of way, but when more in a masochistic ‘why-would-they-do-this-to-me’ kind of way… I won’t react but things people do can really get to me to a point where I get really depressed.
Now before you think I’m a total freak let me explain will you
I only have this problem with people who are really close to me, either my family or my first ring of friends. Sometimes people will react in a certain way that I find hurtfull, but I won’t tell them, because I’ve told them in the past and they either reacted in a very negative way or they said they wouldn’t do it anymore but continued to show that kind of behavior. So after a while I stop asking but I still do feel hurt or sad by it…
/rant
I’m saying this because prior to being a knit blog this place was supposed to be about me organizing my hobbies and my life
so sorry about the rant.. but this is me showing myself I have to stop caring about people being mean to me. So this one is for me and for those so-called friends: welcome to my office
What you’re seeing here is my 2×1,2 (I think) balcony on the third floor facing the south. I have sunshine from 7 in the morning till sunset in the middle of summer, so now it’s from 8.30 – 9am till 7-8pm. I sit here everyday, reading my books, making notes on my macbook and knitting while getting a tan. I won’t post a picture but it’s noon and I’m wearing a bikini HELL YEAH!
This is my East view, with my sweet kitty Noodles checking out the strawberry plant. The cats love the balcony and plz don’t freak out they are indeed very carefull
I’m not posting these pictures to rub it in my ‘friends’ faces who talk behind my back about not spending my time at the uni’s stuffy overcrowded rooms, but I’m posting this to prove to myself that I don’t need people approving of my life and of my way of doing it, as long as I’m having fun. The next time someone sais something nasty I’ll ignore them and think of this post (yea even in the dead of winter)
so.. back to knitting….!!!
meet my sock-covered heel
There’s something about me making things more difficult (in contrast to what I typed above) when it comes to knitting.. I can mask my stupidity by saying I like to have a challenge which I obviously will
The pattern calld for more decreases but I have small feet… I mean I knew I have small feet but I wasn’t expecting them to be this small… I even decreased 2 stitches per repeat of pattern (which is 8 stitches in total) on top of the 4 I had already decreased with my smaller gauge… WTF?!
Or I can say you all have huge monstrous feet.. I won’t say it out loud because I love you guys but I will think it in the back of my head where all thoughts are private.
My question for you is: did I even do this right? it seems a bit off? This was not done with short-rows but that may have been much and much better as decreasing and then picking up stitches really doesn’t look that polished… anyway… they seem to fit perfectly now without stretching the fabric but it might grow on me…. and if I know Murphy it most definately will…
I’ve also worked on my hew for a bit and I must say that the more I knit the more excited I get about this project. By now it’s all so weird.. I’m only NOW realizing that I have spun yarn and made something unique.. whoa..
my love for spinning just grew with 20%
little picture of the backside.. The cotton keeps curling on me but I hope it won’t do that anymore once it’s washed (and while I’m wearing it).
It feels good to finally have some sunny pictures of the yarn as the sparkles show a lot more and the color seems much more ‘happy’ than it does in the overcast pictures
personal growth
Apr 11th
The thing I love about knitting is that, even though I haven’t really been knitting all that long, everytime I see my onerva shawl, or evertime I wear my shipwreck shawl it reminds me of how I felt when I was knitting it. Even in the dead of winter I felt the hot august sun on my skin when I hid my face (from the snow) in the beaded and a little felted malabrigo lace. Even though I haven’t worn some things that often (lelah… with the scratchy yarn) or the things I’ve worn everyday (starburst
), I still feel like every knit stitch helps me grow as a person. It teaches me to be that much more apreciative of my surroundings and of the people around me. I remember funny conversations or nice things that happened while I was knitting this particular piece.
One of the most wonderful compliments I ever got was when i was walking towards the busstation and this woman passes me by and asks me where I bought that pretty hat I was wearing. I don’t usually blush but I did feel my cheeks go rosy while I explained how I had not bought my Starburst hat, but had knitted it myself
She was actually happy and bummed, since she couldn’t buy one.. and I was bummed because if it hadn’t been so darmn cold I wouldn’ve given her the hat as a thank you
The more I progress with my knitting the more I realize the importance of good yarn. I’m a poor student so I knit with the cheapest yarn I can find (the 1 euro 100g balls from the wibra), but that’s only because I can’t afford expensive yarns… or that’s what I thought. The magic word here is ‘spinning’. Let’s be honest here.. spinning yarn takes some time, and it takes a lot of practice to gain enough experience to spin consistent yarn. So in that way some would say it would be more expensive to spin your own yarn than if you would just buy yarn. But I disagree. The point is that I’m a student and I have to do a lot of reading, much of the books and articles are available on the internet or are scanned as pdf. So most of the reading happens on the computer. Unfortunately for me, as it turns out, I can’t really seem to focus when reading. I mean this is not some light reading we’re talking about here.. it’s quite some heavy stuff that needs to be run over in my head before it really sinks in. So I found out a way that works perfect for me. I let macs text-to-speach Alex read my text while I knit
So I figured, if I can knit lace patterns while ‘reading’ an analytic book on space structures and mathematical formulas, I must also be able to spin yarn while ‘reading’
. So with this in mind I started googling. I’ve actually always wanted to spin yarn ever since I first started knitting. The whole spinning wheel thing seemed like such a magical thing.. like it came right out of a fairy tale. So about a year ago I wanted to buy a cheap second hand spinning wheel to try it out and already did some research on it, but after a while I decided I wouldn’t buy one since I know myself.. I super super super like something for a while, and then I forget about it. And as expected I did actually forget about it for a while.. but it came back.. and this time it wouldn’t leave. By this time I had discovered ravelry and I had browsed through the handspun collections some people had and I was so awed by the spinning magic that was going on. It felt like a whole world was opening up to me.
So I did some more research on where I could get fleece.. surely it had to be expensive.. there had to be something really really sucky about spinning because otherwise more people would be doing it.. I was sure of it…So this is what I found…when buying fleece.. 100g of merino roving costs 3 euros…. 100g of 3ply sockyarn (by malabrigo) costs 16,50 euro………… AND IT’S NOT EVEN IN THE COLOR I WANT….d’oh…
Sooo…….tl;dr.. I’m getting me a spinning wheel.. I bought some nice rovings from wol-uniek and I actually spun me a very small bit of alpaca on a ghetto drop-spindle. It was such fun
The moment I started working on the edging there was 16 grams of yarn left. Maybe I should’ve calculated before I started knitting the edging..
Every project has the little mistakes you know about but nobody else will ever see.. girasole is a marked shawl for me.. I think I will never forget how bummed I was when the yarn ran out on me for the second time…
Print o’ the wave is nearly done. I did half the edging with two separate dpn’s and a loose end before I realized Jared Flood’s method with one dpn and the working needle was so much more efficient. At least it’s going much faster now than first so this one shouldn’t take long.
I really love how this is turning out. I promised to give this one to my mom as a thank you for all the things she knit for me (which I didn’t appreciate when I was a little kid), as a birthday present. This means I need to start hurrying up since her birthday is the 21st of april…….
another deadline project.. I’m pretty sure my yarn won’t run out again tho
I have quite a lot left
.
And speaking of cheap wibra yarn… here’s my corona
I’ve loved the pattern since the first time I saw it but for some reason I never got to actually knitting it. Please don’t feel sad for me for having to buy cheap yarn.. the yarns from wibra are, though they are 100% acrylic, very nice and soft. I’m actually quite happy to knit them and I’ve stashed a whole lot of them for the bigger projects
I’ve been sick for the past week and before that I had some uni deadlines so I hadn’t really come round to post some pictures yet.. but I think it’s turning out to be quite nice
a little close-up on the cable pattern. I’m doing the cables without a cable needle and I’m not knitting or purling the first stitch of each row. I hope the cable band won’t curl much by slipping the first stitch since I really don’t like that about this sweater.
I noticed some of wibra’s yarns are slightly thicker than others.. for instance the white saskia yarn is thinner than the brown one.. though this might be because I bought the white balls in the summer and I’ve heard they have summer and winter yarns, but I can’t be sure about that. Since I wanted to knit this sweater with larger needles (5,5mm) I doubled the yarn on my ball winder. It’s a nice, thick fabric now so I can use it as a nice sweater for the colder days in the Dutch climate.
I started on camden as well. This is how far I’ve gotten with the 2,5mm needles. I’m doing this one top-down and in one piece since I really hate seams. It’s not much yet but I’m really diggin the way the fabric’s turning out
so if you haven’t skipped the text part you’ll probably know what this is… no I haven’t got my spinning wheel yet so this is just a halfhearted attempt at spinning yarn and the main focus was on drafting. This is my first ever piece of ‘yarn’ I ever.. if you can even call it that… I just knit it up with a 5mm needle and it’s about 1 square inch… and very inconsistent as the picture shows… but that’s okay.. I had a LOT of fun doing this since it was my first ever handspun yarn on my DIY drop spindle (pictured below).
The fibre is alpaca and it comes from the wonderfull site: wol-uniek. I will most definately be ordering more once I get my wheel. But I’m getting ahead of myself… So here be my ghetto drop-spindle. I made it with a pencil and three layers of thick cardboard-paper. I just pushed the pencil through and carved a rim in the pencil where I looped the yarn….. tadaaaaa.. free drop-spindle. Obviously my first attempt would suck but I’m quite pleased with myself….
Here’s my au naturel rovings. Merino 100g and Alpaca 50g. I don’t know if it’s best to try to spin it natural first before coloring it or not.. I’m not sure.. I’ll need to do some more research before I jump in…. but I’ll keep you posted
Total makeover
Nov 18th
Hello and welcome to the ‘new’ blog. Over time we change and our look on things change as well, the look of the blog is certainly one of those things. The old layout seemed too cluttered and chaotic so I checked out everything I could find but couldn’t decide on any of them. This one, Mystique, was exactly what I was looking for. I didn’t even have to change anything, it’s the perfect theme imho. Its bubbliness and happy colors are contagious
I’m not sure if this will work for everyone or just the administrator but when you move your mouse to the top right of the blog (the black area) two buttons appear. The left one is to increase the text size and the right one is to make the blog more wide. This way you can adjust your own view
I didn’t know about this function but obviously it’s fantastic. One of the reasons I had so much trouble finding a good theme is because I work on a 24″ monitor and I always see a very small blog and a LOT of background… very annoying…
I don’t seem to have access to my laptop….
The kittens are growing and becoming more and more interested in the colorful yarns that dance around in the living room. They’ve already gotten to one of my favorite 4.0mm bamboo short needles and I’ve been using some sanding paper to get it smooth enough but I might need to use some clear coat to get it really functional again. This here box was given to me by my mother-in-law, and the crafting geek in me awoke. I printed out an A4 with a very pretty Zelda picture I found on the internet. I removed the colors, pasted it on the box and covered it all with a layer of gesso. When I have some time on my hands I’m planning to use some watercolor to give it a nice old look
I wanted something inspiring for my knitting work
It looks a bit messy but that’s because of the gesso, but for now it’s the inside that counts
A little progress update on the mystery project. Obviously the progress bar sais it’s called ‘Commelina’ but that’s not the secret/ mystery part
These last pictures are the yarns that still don’t know what they want to be when they grow up
The two right pictues are proof of the growing kittens and the rescue kit that saved my half knawed on bamboo knitting needle
evolution of blogger
Nov 17th
In it’s short life this blog has known many different appearances and different names. This is all proof of your bloggers evolution process.
This short post is only here to let you know that things are going to change for the better and tho it might take some time, I’ll be back and better
FO’s, progress and kitties :D
Oct 21st
I don’t know how this keeps happening but I did it again! October came and went by and all I managed was two posts… I suck..
The last few weeks I’ve been very busy with the kittens, sewing, lot’s of school work and some knitting
and yea I’ve been sick for a week as well.. so I’ve had an active week and a less active week I guess
I’ve been doing some working tho.. So I’m not all bad I guess
but where to start?
Remember this dress? I liked the pattern and the fabric (the shininess) so much I decided to make another one
The same fabric but a different print and color ![]()

Since the self made pictures are fugly and unclear I tried to do it this way.. unfortunately you can’t see sh*t on these pictures since I was intelligent enough to place them on the persian rug….. But hey they look the same so I guess you can get the idea right?
Once again the self made pictures suck badly and in no way reflect what the skirt actually looks like.. but I guess by using your super-human powers and combining the dark silhouette on the first two pictures and the colors and shape on the lower picture you can get the idea
But that’s still not all folks.. how do you like my new trenchcoat? It’s my first ‘long’ coat ever and I’m pretty darn pleased with myself
The more I sew the better I’ll get but already none of my friends managed to actually SEE that I have sewn these things myself so yea.. I’m happy
And finally here’s the knitting I’ve been doing. Last post I mentioned something about joining the armpits and the 1×1 rib raglan, now I’m actually able to show some stuff
I’m not up to the calculation part so I’ve shoved this project aside until my head works enough to not fudge the calculations… which obviously would suck ![]()
I’m continuing the 1×1 raglan rib into the side and it’s looking nice imho.
and last but not least I dug up some old project
This project has been lying around since forever because I couldn’t get myself to work on it. The pattern is beautifull but it’s repetitive and extremely boring… (to me), another problem is that it’s not an easy pattern to memorize, and I’ve managed to fudge it quite often since I can’t always finish one repetition… another big oops was when I didn’t want to graft to two parts so I just continued on the start of the first part.. so the leaves aren’t falling but rising…..?
anyways.. I can forgive myself for that hahahaha.
So my mom really liked the project from the start and was looking at it with happy innocent eyes so I decided to give this to my mom
(also since I’m probably not going to wear it anyway…). So now I’m working on the edging and hopefully I’ll be done in a short while
Before I go I’d like to show some of my new stash ![]()

12 skeins of 50gr, 210m fingering yarn
I’m not sure what it wants to become yet, but it’s probably going to be pretty
I’ll say goodbye with kiwi & noodles sleeping like two cute idiots:
Kiwi, Noodles & CPH
Sep 28th
ssssstt, try to be quiet.. there’s a little kitty sleeping next to me :O
Last time I told you about how I wanted to adopt kittens and now I’d like you to meet them
On friday morning we went to the animal shelter here in Rotterdam and asked for kittens (because we’d seen them on the website), but the clerk told us that they didn’t have any kittens at the moment. We decided that we’d still like to take a look and when we came in the cat-section (all the way to the back of the complex) the woman there told us that they just got a nest of kittens who were quarantined
There were 4 tabby’s that had been found in the streets. They were seven weeks old and we could take them with us immediately. They had been chipped, and vaccinated once and have to have their second shots in three weeks time. Before their 6th month they will be sterilized as well. It was very difficult to pick them because we wanted two and they were all so cute
*drool* in the end we chose the two that played the most and seemed the most fearless (hihi).
While I’m typing this one of them (we named her Kiwi) is sleeping in the living room on the couch, and the other one (we named her Noodles but we’re not sure about it yet) is sleeping next to my computer chair wheel (wtf..) in the sun
arent they cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute
I think they are
but since I don’t want to clutter the knitblog (again) I’ve made another little blog for them
you can visit this blog HERE
It won’t be updated a lot I think but I’ll try to post some funny kitty stuff there for the fans ^____^
anyway, so there’s the reason.. that’s why I haven’t been knitting… I can’t stop looking/ playing at/ with them :O:O:O But I did manage to do a little bit of knitting on the side (while they slept on my lap after playing with my yarn hihi)

In the last post I said that I didn’t like the raglan ‘line’ and didn’t like how the cables just started out of nowhere. So I tried to alternate the knits and purls but it didn’t turn out the way I wanted so I made the raglan line more dominant. This way it’s a clear line and the cable comes from this line which I do like more. The thing I’m seeing now is that I forgot to mirror the right and left side.. I just added a 1×1 rib over 6 stitches between the increases, but forgot to mirror. It’s not a big deal and I don’t mind because you don’t really notice it anyway, only when you know it’s there hehehe. At the moment I’m working on my third skein (just started) so I’m starting to get worried… this little baby just might get a bit more expensive than I imagined haha.
meh.. I’m still happy about the yarn tho.. this hoodie is just too pretty for cheapo acrylics yarn
radiosilence
Sep 8th
With schools starting and all I’ve been a little preocupied. But now I’m back again and ready for the knitting action! I haven’t had te thime to start sewing the things in my queue from the last posts yet but I have ordered some more yarn for some new projects.
I’ve already started on the brown alpaca yarn and I’m working on Vaila at the moment and am working on the sleeves. The purple one is destined to become a Central Park Hoodie and the grey one will become a nice set of long mitts for which I haven’t decided on the pattern yet…
Anyway, here’s Vaila
The body took 4 skeins and now theres only 1 left to make the sleeves and to make the hem longer. I’m don’t think I’ll be able to make all of those with just one skein but it might just be possible.
The pattern for this sweater is written as a bottom-up knit. I started bottom up first but ended up making the whole thing way too big. I have something against loose knits, which is why I never liked to wear knitted garnments as a kid, but now that I’m knitting myself and I can decide the final look of my knits I really don’t want them to be loose. After some searching I found out that I could also knit the sweater top-down. I have no experience with top-down knitting and this would be my first ever top-down sweater.. This is me… I’ve never done something before… I really want to learn to to something.. so how do I learn? I try to learn by modding an existing bottom-up sweater to a top-down one… yea.. that’ll work.. hihi
I’m still surprised to say that it did, but it’s no thanks to me tho! I found some great notes by fellow raveler NessaRenee. Without these notes It would’ve been a huge mess
I was very surprised to see how fast a sweater like this grows..I’ve been knitting on the Arisaig for what seems like forever and I’ve only just got to the huuuge ribbing of the right front part….. with no end in siiiiiight omg this knit is driving me crazy….
Thankfully there’s a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel tho… the back part is finished and I just fool myself by saying that I’m over halfway done hahaa
o hai.. i haz returned :)
Aug 11th
so I’m back with some nice stories and a (very) little bit of knitting. This holiday I’ve taken a big decision that will affect my hobbies greatly. I dropped one of my master studies and will now only focus on urbanism. I guess sometimes we make decisions we think are best for us only to find out that it’s hasn’t turned out that way, and it’s not making us happy. I guess the more I thought about it the more I realized I enjoyed urbanism much more than architecture, and tho I’m interested in the subject, I’m not willing to commit to it as much as the discipline requires. My intrests and hobbies are far too widespread to be focussed on just one thing. I guess in a way I like architecture because it’s the mother of all other arts, but I’m interested in the childeren more than the mom…hehe.. I’m a little kid
Urbanism on the other had has much more to offer (imo). Urbanism is all about the city and how people move through it.. how it becomes a living and breathing thing with it’s own character and identity. Urbanism is like playing Sim City on a huge scale
Ofcourse I COULD’ve known… I completely missed the signs
one of my all-time fave games is Age of Empires (or Starcraft… or Halo Wars… or theme park…. aaaargh). Whatever it was it’s always been about creating some sort of village or park or hospital (remember theme hospital?
). About organizing spaces and flows and movement on the larger scale rather than the facades and ornaments of one piece of the puzzle
.
Don’t get me wrong tho, I like the detailed work… after all.. I did spend 5 years studying building technology………
talk about details….LOL (for the people who don’t know what building technology is: it’s all about the phase between the architects design and the contractor who builds it. Here’s where design work is being transformed into technical blue-prints so the contractor can start building.
Anyway, this means I’ll have a significant amount LESS stress than before, which means I have more TIME to spend on my hobbies, and this means I’ll FINALLY have time to add drawing, journaling and art back into my life
So let me tell you what I’ve been doing this last week ![]()

We went to france and stopped by in Paris
The view from the hotel was weird… but who cares! We had a blast
Anyway ofcourse I’ve also been knitting and being productive
I’ve been working on the arisaig a little but I’m still not done with the back.. I had to use straight needles on this one because I don’t own a set of circular 2,5mm ones, but it’s terrible.. I HATE straight needles.. they’re too heavy…
I’ve also been working on the Shipwreck a little but because of the small beads it’s almost as if there’s no progress at all…. I think I’ll skip the beads for a few rounds and start adding them again after 10 rounds, creating a gradient in between.. I really do need the beads for the weight of the whole thing.. but this way it’s just not going anywhere…
You might also remember little Sackboy 1.0 from the previous post. But now it’s time to meet sackboy 2.0! At least… he’s still in progress so you can’t really meet him/ or her yet
but anyway here’s his little legs, body and his huge head… I’m working on the first arm right now, and I must say it’s getting better than the first one already.. There’s a whoooole lot of sackboys on rav so you might want to check those out
:D:D
And last but not least: I dug up an old project which I want to finish this holiday
